SEDEMI celebrates 46 years of experience in the country

SEDEMI celebrates 46 years of experience and success in the Ecuadorian market. Since its foundation in 1977, it has been a benchmark in the construction sector, standing out for its excellence and commitment in the development of great projects. Its history began in Cantón Rumiñahui, with a small industrial maintenance shop, which, thanks to the entrepreneurial vision and hard work of its founder Rafael Proaño, has become a large company with more than 900 direct employees, 500 indirect employees, an industrial plant of 90.000 square meters and solid experience in the execution of more than 5.000 projects around the country.

With a clear vision, the company has established itself in Ecuador as a benchmark for innovation, evolving, and transforming traditional construction processes into Construction 4.0. Under this concept, SEDEMI has been using the BIM Methodology (collaborative construction model), Industrialized Construction (automated and controlled production) and integral management (ERP) for several years -three essential trends in modern construction- with the certainty that companies that do not digitize will be left behind.

During these 46 years, SEDEMI has focused on quality, safety and sustainability, ensuring that each project meet the highest standards. Its business model based on specialization and integrality allows SEDEMI to serve efficiently various sectors such as: Urban, Industry, Mining, Oil & Gas, Energy and Telecommunications, with products and services that exceed the expectations of all its customers.

One of the fundamental pillars of the company has been its highly qualified and committed employees. The company’s team have been essential to the achievement of its goals and the maintenance of its reputation as leaders in the sector. As mentioned by its President Esteban Proaño: “The company recognizes and appreciates the dedication of all its employees throughout these years, since their passion and experience have been essential to successfully face the challenges of each project”.

On this anniversary, SEDEMI reaffirms its commitment to continue building a better country, promoting sustainable development and the digital transformation of the industry.

Benefits of Industrialized Construction

In an increasingly competitive and constantly evolving world, companies must quickly adapt to meet market demands, especially in the construction sector where having an industrialized construction plant has become a significant competitive advantage for those companies that want to differentiate themselves.

Industrialized construction is an innovative approach that uses advanced technologies, such as robotics, artificial intelligence, and automation, to streamline production processes and produce high-quality parts and pieces faster and more cost-effectively.

Industrialized construction is a reality in Ecuador, with Sedemi being one of the companies with the greatest specialization and experience in the market, thanks to its 45 years of experience in all types of infrastructure, its own industrial plant of 90,000 square meters, a supply stock of imported materials such as steel, and a team of qualified engineers, which allows them to start a project at any time.

According to Esteban Proaño, President of the Sedemi Corporate Group, there are several benefits of having an industrialized construction plant, the following being the most important:

Greater efficiency: The automation of processes allows greater precision and speed in production, which translates into a significant improvement in operational efficiency. Manufacturing times are reduced, errors are minimized and associated costs are considerably reduced.

Flexibility and customization: Industrialized construction also offers the ability to quickly adapt to changing market needs. The standardization of processes allows greater flexibility to customize products and meet specific customer demands, without compromising quality or affecting delivery times.

Sustainability: Through industrialized construction, parts and pieces are manufactured in a controlled environment, which later allows proper waste and scrap management.

Cost reduction: The automation and optimization of production processes contribute to the reduction of operating costs. The elimination of repetitive manual tasks and the minimization of errors allow the organization to have greater profitability.

“Having their own industrialized manufacturing plant has become essential for those organizations that wish to maintain a competitive position in the market. This process provides greater efficiency, flexibility, constant innovation and cost reduction, giving companies a very important strategic advantage” concluded Esteban Proaño.
