With the intention of centralizing the energy and distributing it evenly in the Tiputini Process Center (CPT), of block 43 – ITT, the Ecuadorian company SEDEMI built the “Power Control Building – PCB-40000” with an estimated value of 3’000,000.00 in a total of 150 working days, delivering the building 100% operational, which demonstrates the efficiency in the construction of this highly equipped facility.
The benefit of this electrical building is of high value for the Ishpingo, Tiputini and Tambococha platforms belonging to block 43 – ITT, providing the oil industry with the ability to monitor and control energy distribution operations in all stages of crude oil treatment: exploration, extraction and transportation.
The structure and technology of the electrical and control room called PCR or PCB-40000, allows the integration of all electrical activities in a single point of operation, allowing to concentrate within the same place the power equipment for energy distribution, the electronic equipment for the monitoring and control of the energy to be supplied and the auxiliary service systems for the PCR, ensuring a healthy and safe environment for the staff, as well as an efficient performance of electrical and electronic equipment within an air-conditioned environment. This project helped to have a centralized control of oil exploitation, obtaining great achievements in the generation, transport and distribution of energy.
The construction of this electrical building was a challenge for Sedemi. Its 45 years of experience in the construction of mega structures, allowed it to deliver the project in a record time, fulfilling expectations. This first class electrical and containerized control building distributes, stores and centralizes energy to block 43-ITT. Internally, the building includes workstations, administration offices and meeting rooms; as well as architectural finishes specifically designed to optimize control and energy systems.
The functions it performs are at various voltage levels, so the PCB is able to contain, integrate and manage equipment and electrical and electronic systems safely for both the personnel and the equipment in the PCB.
Previously this energy was achieved through electric generators, now all Tiputini energy platforms are interconnected to the electrical building, being the heart and matrix of the sector, an innovative alternative to lay the way to new operating systems of energy control, contributing to the development of the hydrocarbon industry of the country and guaranteeing the good performance and operation of installed equipment and construction material.
To comply with this precedent, SEDEMI developed the conceptual engineering, basic engineering and detailed engineering for the electrical and control building, allowing to establish the milestones that guaranteed the appropriate technical conditions for a correct operation of the PCB.
“The construction came true thanks to the work of 120 professionals trained for this mega project. As an Ecuadorian company, we appreciate the trust placed in us to build the buildings of tomorrow, which are undoubtedly a major contribution to the development of the hydrocarbon and oil industry, a sector that is advancing daily and is of great importance for the economy of the country” commented Esteban Proaño, President of the SEDEMI Corporate Group.
